Shipping & Delivery Policy
At Build It DTM, we strive to process and deliver all orders as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated based on:
- The delivery area
- The size, weight, dimensions, and quantity of the items ordered
- Courier service rates
Shipping rates are automatically calculated during checkout using our courier partners.
Please note:
- We do NOT offer free delivery on any products or order values
- Delivery charges apply to all provinces and areas within South Africa
- Additional charges may apply for oversized, fragile, bulk, remote, or high-risk deliveries
High-Risk & Non-Serviceable Areas
Certain areas may be classified by courier companies as:
- High-risk
- Remote
- Limited-service areas
In these cases:
- Delivery surcharges may apply
- Delivery may be restricted or unavailable
- Customers may be required to arrange collection from the nearest courier depot or distribution centre at their own expense
Build It DTM reserves the right to refuse delivery to areas deemed unsafe or non-serviceable by the courier.
Delivery of Heavy & Bulk Materials
Delivery availability for heavy or bulk building materials depends on:
- Product type
- Quantity ordered
- Vehicle accessibility
- Delivery location
Certain products may only qualify for:
- Local delivery
- Special delivery arrangements
- Collection from store or courier depot
Deliveries to:
- Farms
- Plots
- Mines
- Informal settlements
- Construction sites
may require special arrangements and additional delivery charges.
Customers are responsible for ensuring:
- The delivery location is accessible
- Accurate delivery information is supplied
- Someone is available to receive the order
Product Images & Specifications
Images shown on our website are for illustration purposes only.
Actual product appearance, colours, finishes, dimensions, specifications, and packaging may vary depending on:
- Manufacturer batches
- Supplier updates
- Lighting conditions
- Product revisions
Specifications, measurements, and compatibility should always be verified before purchase and installation.
While every effort is made to ensure that product information, pricing, specifications, stock availability, and images are accurate, errors may occasionally occur.
Build It DTM reserves the right to:
- Correct errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or outdated information
- Change pricing without prior notice
- Cancel orders affected by pricing errors, stock discrepancies, technical issues, supplier issues, or incorrect product information
- Issue a full refund prior to dispatch or collection where necessary
Errors & Omissions Excepted (E&OE).
Order Processing
Orders are processed during standard business days only (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays).
All orders are generally processed and shipped on the next working day once:
- Payment has reflected
- The invoice has been processed
- Stock has been picked and allocated
Orders placed:
- After business hours
- On weekends
- On public holidays
will be processed on the next working day.
Order processing times may vary depending on:
- Stock availability
- Supplier lead times
- Payment verification
- Courier collection schedules
- Order volumes
Orders will only be processed once payment reflects in our account.
Proof of payment may be requested where applicable.
Courier Services & Tracking
Build It DTM uses approved third-party courier providers, including DSV South Africa and other courier partners where applicable.
Once your order has been dispatched or collected by the courier, tracking information will be provided where available.
Tracking updates remain subject to courier scanning and system updates.
Shipping Insurance
Customers are strongly encouraged to select shipping insurance during checkout where available.
Where shipping insurance is declined, Build It DTM’s liability for transit-related loss or damage may be limited, subject to:
- Courier investigation
- Applicable insurance coverage
- Supplier assessment
- Relevant consumer protection legislation
Delivery Inspection & Claims
Customers are required to inspect all goods immediately upon delivery or collection.
Any:
- Damages
- Shortages
- Incorrect items
- Missing items
- Transit-related issues
must be reported to Build It DTM within 3 working days of delivery or collection.
Claims may require:
- Photographs
- Videos
- Packaging images
- Courier packaging evidence
- Supporting documentation
Failure to report transit-related issues within the required timeframe may result in the claim being declined.
The 3-day claim period applies specifically to:
- Transit-related damages
- Shortages
- Visibly damaged goods
- Incorrect items
and does not limit any rights afforded under the Consumer Protection Act.
Collections
Collection is available exclusively from:
Build It DTM
19 Liverpool Road
Benoni, Gauteng
Orders placed for collection are generally available from the next working day provided:
- Payment has reflected
- The invoice has been processed
- Stock has been picked and allocated
Customers may be required to provide:
- Proof of payment
- Order confirmation
- Identification where applicable
Customers do not need to wait for a “Ready for Collection” email unless otherwise advised by our team.
Build It DTM reserves the right to delay collections where:
- Stock shortages occur
- Supplier delays occur
- Additional verification is required
- Orders are incomplete or partially allocated
Customer Courier Collections
Customers may arrange their own courier collection; however, prior arrangements must be made with the store before collection takes place.
Customers must ensure that their courier has:
- The order number
- Collection details
- Appropriate vehicle requirements for the goods being collected
Once goods have been collected by the customer’s nominated courier, risk and responsibility may pass to the customer subject to applicable law.
Order Changes & Cancellations
Changes to orders can only be made before processing or shipping has commenced.
Customers should contact the store as soon as possible should they wish to:
- Amend quantities
- Change products
- Update delivery information
- Cancel an order
Orders may be cancelled before dispatch.
Once:
- Processing
- Packaging
- Courier booking
- Dispatch
- Supplier ordering
- Shipping
has commenced, cancellations or amendments may no longer be possible.
A 5% refund and administration fee may apply to approved refunds where:
- The store is not at fault
- Incorrect items were ordered by the customer
- The customer no longer requires the order
- Delivery arrangements fail due to customer-related issues
- Orders are cancelled after payment processing has occurred
This fee assists in covering non-recoverable payment gateway charges, administrative costs, and handling fees.
If Build It DTM is unable to fulfil an order due to unavailable, damaged, discontinued, or supplier-related stock issues, a full refund will be processed.
Consumer Protection Act (CPA)
Nothing contained in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights afforded to consumers under the Consumer Protection Act of South Africa.
Products sold with an implied warranty of quality may qualify for repair, replacement, or refund within 6 months of purchase where applicable and subject to:
- Inspection
- Testing
- Supplier assessment
- CPA guidelines
Build It DTM reserves the right to inspect, test, assess, repair, refer to suppliers/manufacturers, or obtain technical evaluations before approving any refund, repair, replacement, or exchange request.
